National Park Hohe Tauern is one of the most beautiful mountainous landscapes in the world. It functions as an ark for thousands of animals and plants and it seduces you to go and explore nature which gives off its majestic power and serenity to its visitors. Wide glacial fields, dark green mountain lakes and impressive waterfalls with foaming basins, are natural decorations which make the Hohe Tauern so magnificent. Großkirchheim, Lienz and Heiligenblut are located in this gorgeous area.

Lienz The capital of Eastern-Tirol lies in a large and fruitful valley. In the North it is bordered by the Felberntauern range and in the South by the Dolomites . Lienz lies at the feet of the only Dolomites that have remained Austrian after 1919; the so-called Lienzer Dolomites. At the confluence of the Isel and the Drau lies the Lienzer Altstad in a natural triangle.

De Pasterze However, the most impressive remain the inseparable largest glacier, the Pasterze, and the highest mountain of Austria, the Großglockner which lie at approximately 12 kilometers from our guesthouse. The Großglockner Hochalpenstrasse is the longest and highest mountain pass of Austria and technically speaking one of the most interesting alpine passes in Europe. A long and winding road takes you higher and higher to the great treeless and unspoilt world of a high mountain range.

Heiligenblut Heiligenblut is an enjoyable holiday town with a beautiful view of the top of the Großglockner, which dominates the landscape. In summer the busy traffic of the Großglockner-Hochalpenstrasse dominates the town. But this creates a lively atmosphere in this alpine resort.
During winter the road is closed and Heiligenblut can only be reached from the South. It is a big advantage that you never have to wait long in the skiing area, not even during rush hour at Christmas, New Year and Easter. Whoever spends their skiing holiday in Heiligenblut can nearly always count on snow on challenging slopes.
